About Us

Welcome to Leleaka ("lay lay AH ka"), which is the Hawaiian word for the Milky Way or a blowing, misty rain.  We're always struck by the beauty of this belt of stars as it arches over the darkness of our farm on clear nights.  It's something we didn't get to see while living in cities for most of our lives, so this is a precious reminder to us about the majesty of nature and how easy it is to become separated from it.

We're a team of two cacao growers who strive to make exceptional chocolate and other candy.  Josh is a science loving computer programmer with a couple decades of experience working with chocolate and Leo comes from a long line of farmers passionate about growing food and caring for the land. 

We apply science to both agriculture and confectionery to meticulously craft fine luxury chocolate and other candy.  All of our products are made with aloha (and a smidge of rage, for color) from fruit grown right here on the Hamakua Coast of the Big Island of Hawai'i.  

Our farm overlooks historic Hilo at 1000 feet in elevation and features over eighty types of fruit and more than two hundred varieties of tropical flowers.  The flowers taste awful, but we think you'll enjoy what we make using the exotic fruit.
